How to configure my DNS provider for NS or CAA setup?

If you're not sure how to add NS or CAA records via your DNS provider, this guide will walk you through the process via some of the common DNS providers. Please find your DNS provider below and follow the process to complete the configuration.

If you cannot find your DNS provider below, please reach out to us.

Before you go further, here are some quick explanations of the commonly used terminology used in the guide below. This will give you a better idea of what they mean and how they look like:

NS or CAA record setup

  • Record name: This is the record name assigned for your NS or CAA record (e.g. NS record: _acme-challenge.new.7533967.xyz; or CAA record: 7533967.xyz)

If you're configuring for a  root domain, enter '@' or leave blank (this may vary depending on the DNS provider, please double before proceeding, e.g. enter @ before 7533967.xyz)

In the case of a subdomain, enter only the subdomain (e.g. if the domain is _acme-challenge.new.7533967.xyz, then enter _acme-challenge.new before 7533967.xyz)

  • Content: During the NS/CAA setup process, you need to input the value of the record (NS record: dns.ssl.mlytics.co; or CAA record: 0 issue "letsencrypt.org").

For CAA, the content has 3 fields:
flag: 0 (non-critical) or 1 (critical);
tag: issue/issuewild/iodef ; and
tag value: the certificate authority who will issue a digital certificate, e.g. “letsencrypt.org”.
