Pulse chart controls

There are six controls that you can play around to tailor the presented data on Pulse in order to meet your target requirements.

1. Date range

You can specify the range of the date of the pulse chart by accessing the date range on the top right of the chart.

The chart will display data for 7 days (1 week) range by default, but you can set the date range from 1 day to 30 days (1 month).

2. Pulse data source

Pulse data are collected via RUM and synthetic monitoring. You can access the source control on the bottom left.

By default, both the RUM and synthetic monitoring data are presented in the chart, but you can choose to activate or deactivate one of them by clicking their corresponding buttons.

Follow this link to learn more about RUM and synthetic monitoring.

3. Geographic coverage

By default, the Pulse charts show the global data for each CDN. However, you can set a specific location to see how the CDNs are performing in that location.

VNIS offer granular geolocation control, starting from country-level down to the city-level. You can specify the country, region, and city from the dropdown menus just above the chart.

No CDN has full global coverage, some CDNs don't cover some regions.

4. Refresh chart

You can refresh and update the chart by clicking the ‘Refresh’ icon on top of the chart.

5. Monitored CDNs

You can choose a CDN and monitor their performance and availability data by clicking the ‘Pin’ icon on top of the chart.

In the ‘Chart settings’, you can choose any CDN from the following categories:

Basic CDN, Global CDN, Regional CDN, China RIM CDN, China CDN, and Custom CDN.

You can also check the performance of your domain by selecting it from the ‘My domain’ drop down menu.

You can only choose to display a maximum of 10 CDNs and domains. Once you decide which CDNs and/or domains you want to monitor, click the ‘Save’ button.

All the CDNs and domains that you selected are listed on the below the chart together with their corresponding data colors.

6. Beacon code

You can enhance the performance monitoring of Pulse via RUM. To collect RUM data, you need to install a beacon code on your website.  To install a beacon code click the ‘Install Private beacon’ in the quick actions.
