You can configure the origin address of your domain in 2 ways.
- Through Multi CDN General Settings
- Through DNS Records
Through Multi CDN General Settings
To configure your origin address, navigate to ‘ Multi CDN’ > ‘General Settings’ > ‘Origin Address’.
You need to set the target domain from the ‘ Operation level panel’.
On this ‘Origin Address’ box, click the ‘ Settings’ (gear) icon to configure the setting.
You can change the origin address of your specified domain to either an FQDN (fully qualified domain name address) or an IPv4 (internet protocol version 4) address.
Setting the origin address to an FQDN will convert the DNS record of this domain to a CNAME record, having the canonical name as its value (e.g. mlytics.com). This means, request for this domain name will be redirected to the specified canonical name.
Setting the origin address to an IPv4 will convert the DNS record of this domain to an A record, having the IPv4 address as its value (e.g. 1.2.3.4). This means, request for this domain name will be redirected to the specified IPv4 address.
It is possible to assign multiple IPv4 addresses to your domain, but you need to activate the Origin Shield first. Follow this link to learn how to activate Origin Shield.
Through DNS Records
To configure your origin address, navigate to ‘ DNS’ > ‘DNS Records’.
You need to set the target site from the ‘ Operation level panel’.
On this page, hover to your selected record (domain name), and press the arrow down icon on the right-hand side.
You can either click the link below the ‘Value’ header, or follow the instructions stated on “Through Multi CDN General Settings” section.
For ' Multi CDN-deactivated DNS records’, users will NOT be allowed to change the origin address settings. Though, users can delete the record and create a new A record or a CNAME record bearing its desired value.
